The Elrom variety was obtained at the Research Institute for Fruit Growing (ICDP) in Pitești-Mărăcineni as part of a breeding program aimed at improving fruit quality and yield. The variety is used in experimental plantings to evaluate productivity and the chemical composition of the harvest.
Breeding of the variety focused on fruit size, anthocyanin concentration, and resistance to pests, in particular aphids. Specific data on plant morphological parameters or precise ripening periods are not provided in scientific publications.
