The variety is a biological hybrid of Secale cereale and Secale montanum (S. strictum), developed as part of a Hungarian breeding program. The growing season duration is 282–284 days, with the variety characterized by later flowering compared to standard winter rye.

The plant requires vernalization and, if spring-sown, does not form a stem until the following year. In autumn, the variety tillers actively, resumes growth in spring, with heading occurring in mid-May and flowering at the end of May. The thousand kernel weight is 15–20 grams, and the seed material is used for propagation.

The variety possesses high ecological plasticity, resistance to cold and drought, inherited from its wild parent Secale montanum. It is positioned as a fodder crop and is also considered a potential resource for bioenergy.
