The variety is a hybrid between cultivated rye (Secale cereale) and wild perennial rye (Secale montanum). The main objective of its breeding was to obtain a plant capable of regrowth and multiple utilization without the need for annual reseeding.

Problems with seed productivity, including partial sterility and rachis fragility, are characteristic of this group of hybrids. Lodging resistance and yield indicators of the variety are inferior to modern annual forms of rye, which limits its widespread commercial application.

The variety was intended for use in environmentally oriented agriculture as an intermediate cover crop. Its developed root system contributes to protecting the soil from erosion and improving its structure when grown over several years for biomass or green fodder.
