The variety is an interspecific hybrid created to combine the yield of annual rye and the perenniality of wild mountain rye. The crop is used for green mass production, hay, and livestock grazing, is suitable for cultivation on infertile and sandy soils, and is also used in wheat breeding as a source of resistance genes.

The plant is characterized by a high ability to regrow after mowing and resistance to leaf diseases. The green mass yield is comparable to traditional annual rye and triticale varieties. The variety can be cultivated in mixed stands with forage legumes, such as alfalfa or bird's-foot trefoil.

Technologically, the variety is difficult in seed production due to fertility issues caused by chromosomal rearrangements and a tendency for rachis brittleness, the reduction of which was the subject of breeding work.
