The variety is a rye population selected from local landraces of the Austrian Lungau region. It is intended for grain production in difficult high-altitude conditions and is suitable for organic farming.
The plants are distinguished by significant stem length, reaching a height of over 2 meters. The variety is very undemanding, possesses high winter hardiness, and has stable yield in the snowy alpine climate.
The grain of the variety is used in baking for the production of traditional types of rye bread, is valued for its nutritional qualities and characteristic taste, and is also used in brewing.
