Solanum tuberosum L. Potato · Agricultural · bred by Bavaria Saat GbR

Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety forms oval tubers with smooth yellow skin and light yellow flesh. The plant is characterized by rapid foliage development, white flowers, and stable yield with uniform tuber size. The variety has a very low susceptibility to internal defects and mechanical damage.

Bavafit exhibits high resistance to PVY and potato leafroll virus, as well as to Globodera rostochiensis. Resistance to Phytophthora infestans, Alternaria, and common scab is at a medium level. The variety is adapted to various soil types and is not sensitive to metribuzin.

During cultivation, high-quality seedbed preparation and maintaining a planting distance of 30–32 cm are recommended. An important condition for maintaining quality is ensuring the tuber wound-healing phase after harvest, which guarantees excellent preservation of the crop during long-term storage.
