The variety is the result of a breeding program lasting about 45 years, aimed at obtaining high resistance to late blight Phytophthora infestans. In the Netherlands, the variety is known under the name Niek's White.
Tubers have light-yellow skin and white flesh. In terms of culinary properties, the variety is characterized as sufficiently floury, suitable for boiling, baking, and frying, including the preparation of french fries.
