Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety was obtained by crossing lines 7683A(12) and 8898ABC(14). In breeding documentation, the variety is known by clone number 13737(1).

The level of reducing sugars in the tubers remains stable during storage at a temperature of 4°C, which is important for maintaining product color during frying. Under certain storage conditions or exposure to light, the variety is prone to the accumulation of glycoalkaloids.

Brodick is actively used in breeding work as a parent form. In particular, it is one of the parents of the varieties Setanta and Yukon Gem, from which the latter inherited resistance to potato virus Y and tuber late blight.
