The Carmen potato variety is early-maturing, with a maturation period of 65–70 days, while the first digging is possible on the 45th day. The plant is of a semi-erect intermediate type, reaching a height of about 80 cm. The tubers have an oval-round shape, smooth red skin, and small superficial eyes. The flesh is colored light yellow or cream.
The yield potential of the variety reaches 70 t/ha, with 7 to 15 tubers formed per plant. The variety is intended for table use; tubers retain their shape when boiled and do not darken, with a culinary type ranging from AB to BC. The keeping quality of the produce is about 95%.
The variety possesses resistance to potato wart (pathotype I) and golden potato cyst nematode (Ro1). It is moderately resistant to late blight on foliage and common scab. Carmen is considered a plastic variety, suitable for various soil and climatic conditions and cultivation under irrigation.
