The variety is a traditional landrace, known under the names Blue Congo, Black Russian, and Blue of Sweden. The tubers have an oval-round shape, are medium to large in size, with almost black skin and intensely colored purple flesh. In terms of maturity, it is classified as late-maturing and is characterized by low yield.
The potato is suitable for boiling, making mashed potatoes, salads, and baking; however, due to its high dry matter content, care is required during culinary processing to prevent the tubers from falling apart. The variety has good keeping quality, but is demanding in terms of moisture regime and may exhibit sensitivity to common diseases such as late blight, viruses, and scab.
