The variety was obtained by crossing the varieties Mondial and W 72-22-496. The tubers have white flesh, and the eyes have a white base. The variety is oriented towards export and use for table purposes.

The potato is suitable for various types of culinary processing, including boiling, frying, and making mashed potatoes. In databases, the name Eos also refers to a historical German potato variety obtained in the 19th century.
