The variety was bred in Hungary by breeder Vilmos Teichmann. In 1967, decades after its recognition, it occupied about 30% of the potato acreage in the country. By the 1970s, the role of the variety in industrial production declined under the influence of the emergence of new domestic and foreign varieties, as well as due to problems associated with the spread of viruses.
The variety was intended for mass food consumption. In agronomic studies of that period, it often appeared as a subject for trials, including the study of the effect of fertilizers on yield. Detailed morphological characteristics of the variety are absent in available sources due to its obsolescence.
