The Silvester variety is used in breeding work as one of the crossing components for developing new potato varieties, such as Arizona, Armedi and Arsenal.
Tuber quality studies note a high specific gravity for this variety, as well as a high content of dry matter and starch. Due to these characteristics, the variety is suitable for use as raw material for the production of French fries and chips.
