Hybrids of this group are used for hay production, livestock grazing, and silage harvesting. Plants are characterized by a height of 1.8 to 4.5 meters, thin stems, and a high degree of leafiness, which contributes to the production of high-quality hay.

The plants possess high heat and drought tolerance. The nutritional value of the forage depends on the mowing phase, as lignin content increases with age. Members of the group are capable of accumulating hydrocyanic acid and nitrates, which requires control during animal grazing and also excludes their use in the diet of horses.
