The HayKing variety and its HayKing II version belong to the category of BMR hybrids with a brown midrib. Plants reach a height of 1.5–2.1 meters, possess a strong root system, high leafiness, and thin stems that facilitate the drying of mown biomass.

The BMR genetic trait ensures a reduction in lignin levels in cell walls, which improves fiber digestibility for animals. The variety is distinguished by high growth vigor, the ability to regrow quickly after mowing, efficient use of moisture and nitrogen, as well as a reduced content of hydrocyanic acid.
