The Hyso 2 variety is an interspecific hybrid combining traits of Sorghum bicolor and sudangrass. In taxonomy, it is also classified as Sorghum x drummondii.

The plant belongs to forage crops. Due to the hybrid's genetic characteristics, it is capable of forming a higher volume of vegetative mass compared to pure lines of sudangrass.
