The plant forms an upright or rounded shrub 61–91 cm in height and width. The foliage is ornamental, turning a copper-bronze hue in autumn. Bright pink flowers are gathered in flat inflorescences and appear in late spring and early summer.

The variety is adapted for USDA hardiness zones 4–9. The shrub is drought-tolerant once established and possesses resistance to deer and rabbit damage, but is sensitive to soil salinity.
