The variety Jotab 01, known under the commercial name Best Hedge, has a bushy upright shrub structure. The plant is slow-growing and shade-tolerant.

This yew variety is sensitive to waterlogging and requires good drainage to prevent Phytophthora. It is used primarily in landscape gardening as material for forming hedges.
