The variety forms a compact bushy crown with no classic central leader. The root system is of a heart-shaped type. The plant is characterized by high winter hardiness and undemanding soil conditions, although it does not tolerate stagnant moisture, as well as highly acidic or overly dry substrates. It develops well in both sunny and shaded areas.
The plant has high resistance to pruning and the ability to regenerate quickly, maintaining density in the lower part of the bush. It is used in landscape design for creating low borders, hedges, topiary figures and container cultivation, serving as an alternative to boxwood. All parts of the plant, except the aril, are poisonous.
