Variety description

The variety is a sport of the variety "Smaragd". The plant forms a crown that has a globular shape at a young age, and becomes broadly conical with age. The variety is slow-growing: by ten years of age, it reaches a height of about one meter and a width of about 0.6 meters.

The needles are scale-like, dark green, with bright creamy-white young growth, creating a frost effect. In winter, the needles may acquire a bronze hue. The variety belongs to USDA hardiness zone 4.

The plant is resistant to diseases and pests. It develops well in sunny areas and in partial shade, prefers moist fertile substrates, but does not tolerate high groundwater levels. Mature plants may require tying of the crown during heavy snowfall.
