The variety Ovális Szarvas is officially classified as Thuja orientalis L. (oriental arborvitae, or Platycladus orientalis). In a number of dendrological sources, this variety is erroneously attributed to the species Thuja occidentalis.

The variety is an object of collection interest and does not belong to industrial agricultural crops. In open publications, there is no data on disease resistance, growth characteristics, or other agrotechnical indicators of the plant.
