The variety is tetraploid. Generative development proceeds more slowly compared to Central European varieties, however, among Norwegian varieties, Reipo shows earlier development than the Lea variety. The rate of development accelerates when the photoperiod is increased from 16 to 20 hours.

The variety is intended for agricultural production and is used in grass mixtures with timothy grass and meadow fescue for forage harvesting.
