The variety Varte belongs to the tetraploid early-maturing forms of red clover. It has become widespread in Northern European countries, including Estonia, Finland, Sweden, and Norway, where it is actively used in the creation of forage grass mixtures.

In agronomic studies, this variety is considered in the context of seed production; in particular, the influence of seeding rates and fertilizer application on seed yield indicators is being studied. Work is also being carried out to evaluate seed coloration and plant resistance to Sclerotinia.
