The variety belongs to the brachycalycinum subspecies. It was selected from local populations originating from the Valmoreno de Arriba region in Spain.

The variety is characterized by a late maturity cycle, being seven days later than the Clare variety. The variety was bred to expand the use of brachycalycinum group clovers in agricultural production.
