The Trikkala variety is an annual self-regenerating plant with prostrate or semi-erect stems. It is almost hairless and produces large cream-colored seeds. Flowering begins approximately 112 days after sowing.
The plant possesses excellent tolerance to winter waterlogging, is resistant to root rot, and is tolerant to clover scorch. The variety is suitable for medium to heavy soils with moderate acidity. Due to the low level of formononetin, the variety is safe for the reproductive health of sheep.
Trikkala is used for establishing permanent pastures, haymaking, and silage, providing active growth during the winter and spring periods. The variety is characterized by a low level of hardseededness, which limits its application in intensive crop rotations.
