Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is one of the earliest-maturing of its species, which allows it to successfully develop during a short growing season of approximately 4.5 months. Genetically, the variety was obtained as a result of crossing the Northam A2 and Daglish lines.

The plant possesses a low level of estrogenic isoflavones, in particular formononetin, which reduces the risk of diseases in grazing sheep. A high level of hard-seededness promotes effective pasture regeneration; however, due to early maturity, the variety does not form a large volume of green mass by late spring.

Morphologically, the variety is distinguished by specific anthocyanin leaf coloration and characteristics of the flower calyx. In breeding practice, it is often used as a control standard when evaluating new varieties for disease resistance and hard-seededness levels.
