The Subferti variety belongs to the mid-season type according to its development cycle characteristics.
Plants of the species Trifolium subterraneum are prostrate annual herbs 10–15 cm tall with pubescent leaves and stems. The species possesses the property of geocarpy, in which after flowering, the flower stalks with seeds penetrate the soil for maturation.
The crop is used primarily as a pasture, possessing the ability for self-regeneration due to hard-seededness and seed burial in the soil, as well as high nutritional value for ruminants.
