The Ardeal 1 variety is a product of the breeding program of the National Agricultural Research and Development Institute Fundulea. It was created for adaptation to the soil and climatic conditions of Romania.
In scientific research, the variety is mentioned in the context of breeding work and the study of genetic material. In particular, it possesses resistance to leaf rust, which is attributed to the presence of the Lr34 gene. The variety was used in breeding programs as a parental form in the development of such varieties as Faur, Glosa, and Gruia.
