Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety has a semi-dwarf growth type, determined by the Rht1 gene. The plant is awned and produces soft-textured white grain. Genetically, it is characterized as a variety with a neutral reaction to day length, capable of developing under various conditions.

In scientific practice, the variety known as Avocet or Avocet S is used primarily as base parental material. It is highly susceptible to the yellow rust pathogen Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici, which makes it a model object for creating near-isogenic lines when mapping resistance genes.
