The variety is the result of selecting local Galician ecotypes without crossing with foreign forms. It is intended for baking, in particular for producing bread with the Pan Galego protected geographical indication, to which it imparts characteristic taste, aroma, and texture.

Flour from this variety is classified as "weak" or "medium" in strength, has a moderate protein and gluten content, and is also distinguished by a high carbohydrate and mineral content. The variety characteristics are stable under various farming methods.

The variety has been described according to UPOV descriptors and is characterized by a very early heading time. It was selected taking into account its agronomic performance and resistance to diseases and pests characteristic of the growing region's conditions.
