The variety is a product of Vilmorin's breeding work and occupied significant acreage in France between 1966 and 1970. Due to its characteristics, the variety was actively used as a parental line in the development of new varieties such as Fidel, Beauchamp, and Festival.
The variety was distinguished by improved baking quality compared to preceding varieties, in particular the Cappelle Desprez variety. In scientific literature, it is mentioned in studies on resistance to yellow rust and tolerance to aluminum toxicity, as well as being a breeding standard of that period.
