The variety is a spring form of bread wheat obtained as a result of CIMMYT breeding programs and Mexican research institutes. In the scientific community, it is widely known as a parental line for breeding new varieties possessing high resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses.
The plant acts more often as a research object rather than a commercial agricultural variety. It is used in genetic work for studying defense mechanisms against pathogens, in particular when researching the stem rust resistance gene Sr2 and reactions to leaf spot.
