The variety is a pure line bred in France. The plant's pedigree includes a combination of the parent forms PRIEUR, SW, 90 and ETOILE DE CHOISY.

The plant serves as an important object of genetic research. In particular, the variety was studied for its composition of glutenin and gliadin proteins to classify the allelic diversity of French wheat varieties, and was also used as a parent form for creating new hybrids.
