The variety GK Szereda (breeding number GK 509.16) was obtained by the pedigree method from a hybrid combination of homozygous lines derived using the doubled haploid method. The plant forms an awned spike. The variety is recognized as highly productive with good indicators of grain bulk density (80–81 kg/hl) and thousand kernel weight.

The variety possesses good adaptability to various climatic conditions, demonstrating resistance to drought and low temperatures. Regarding phytopathogens, GK Szereda demonstrates resistance to yellow rust, moderate resistance to a complex of leaf diseases, and moderate susceptibility to Fusarium head blight, which requires the application of fungicides.
