The Grana variety is a historically significant achievement of Polish selection, created within the framework of cereal crop programs after 1959. Genetically, it represents a combination of the Etoile de Choisy, Wysokolitewka Sztywnosłoma, and Dańkowska Biała lines.
In modern literature, the variety is considered an object for scientific work on plant physiology and genetic mapping. Researchers use its lines for the analysis of gene localization on chromosomes, as well as a model object when studying the effect of nitrogen nutrition on grain composition.
