The variety Janus is a soft spring wheat. Its breeding was conducted in Bavaria using genetic material from the lines v. Ruemker Dickkopf / Erli // Erli / Hope.
In the 1970s and early 1980s, the variety was officially registered in the national variety lists of a number of European countries, including Luxembourg, as a spring crop.
