The variety is an old local landrace that was widespread in Sweden until the early 1910s. Currently, the sample is preserved in the Nordic Genetic Resource Center under accession number NGB 6692.
The plant possesses high winter hardiness. The variety is sensitive to excessive fertilization, which may lead to lodging. In studies of baking properties, this wheat type is examined in the context of dough mixing parameters.
Lantvete Uppsala belongs to the category of cultivars in demand in the niche segment of organic farming. The grain is used for the production of flour and bakery products with traditional organoleptic properties.
