The variety is intended for soft milling and was grown as a feed wheat. In the late 1990s, the variety demonstrated good yield performance, which led to the expansion of acreage in various regions of the UK.
The plant has moderate resistance to lodging. Studies from that period note that the variety is susceptible to some races of yellow rust (Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici).
