The MV-9 variety was bred at the Agricultural Research Institute in Martonvásár. In the scientific literature of the 1980s, it stood out as one of the varieties with the best grain quality indicators among breeding lines of that period.
The variety was used as genetic material in crossbreeding and selection programs for resistance to stem rust and leaf rust. Specific morphological traits and numerical parameters of resistance are absent in open publications.
