The variety is of Swedish origin and is known in international classification under the code WW 78263. During the period of its active use, the variety occupied significant acreage in Great Britain.

Genetic characteristics of the variety include the presence of a wheat-rye translocation and the Yr9 gene, which determines the reaction to yellow rust. In 1989, the variety became a subject of study in the context of an epiphytotic of this disease caused by the adaptation of the pathogen.

In the 1980s and 1990s, the variety was actively used in European experimental research to calibrate yield models and assess the impact of climate change on the development of winter wheat.
