The variety was created as a result of a breeding program through backcrossing H-93-8/3*Rinconada. In a number of publications, it is classified as soft wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and in other sources — as durum wheat (Triticum durum Desf.).

For the variety, when considered as soft wheat, a medium-ripening period and semi-dwarf plant type are characteristic. It possesses resistance to powdery mildew and leaf rust, and also carries the Cre2 gene, providing resistance to the cereal cyst nematode. The variety's production is characterized by good baking qualities.
