The variety was obtained as a result of crossing Senatore Cappelli and Eiti 6 forms. The plants are distinguished by a shorter stem height compared to traditional varieties, which provides better lodging resistance. The variety belongs to the early-maturing group and is intended for cultivation under rainfed conditions.

In terms of yield, the variety surpasses the Senatore Cappelli variety; however, its milling and pasta-making qualities are rated as lower. Due to its characteristics, Capeiti 8 has become an important breeding material in Mediterranean breeding programs and is frequently used in the pedigrees of modern durum wheat lines.
