Farro Lungo is a Sicilian landrace, also known by the names Perciavisazzi, Gnolu, Farrone, and Settecentanni. It is a tall plant with a long biological cycle, belonging to the species Triticum durum.
The population is adapted to organic farming, yet it yields less than modern varieties. The grain is traditionally used for the production of flour and pasta, which are valued for their specific organoleptic properties and composition.
Studies of this population are being conducted with the aim of preserving biodiversity and utilizing its genetic potential in breeding for resistance to stress factors.
