The variety was created based on the Italian variety Svevo. The main distinguishing feature is the soft texture of the endosperm, which facilitates the milling process, reduces energy consumption, and minimizes starch damage during processing.

The protein and gluten content of Faridur is higher than that of the prototype variety Svevo, however, the gluten quality is lower. Test baking is characterized by the production of a more compact product with a low specific volume, which requires adjustments to recipes and processing procedures.

The variety is used as a modern genotype for studying resistance to stored product pests, in particular the granary weevil.
