The variety is a soft spring wheat developed in the USA for Montana conditions. The plant is awnless, has white spikes and straw. A key morphological feature is the solid stem, which provides crop resistance to the wheat stem sawfly.

The variety possesses acceptable baking properties, however, it shows susceptibility to Septoria and sooty mold. Historically, it was used as a commercial variety in regions with a high probability of sawfly infestation, and also served as significant breeding material.
