Morphological characteristics of the variety include a low frequency of plants with a curved flag leaf and the absence of pubescence on the lower glume. The variety appears in a number of comparative studies of Spanish wheat varieties popular during the 1990s and early 2000s, and was also used for disease resistance studies.

Like other varieties of the species Triticum durum, this variety is intended for use in the food industry, in particular, for the production of pasta and processed durum wheat products.
