The variety is a winter form of durum wheat. The variety's yield is on average 15–30% lower compared to common winter soft wheat varieties. Breeding work on the variety included improving winter hardiness, the indicators of which in a number of genotypes approach the level of soft wheat varieties with moderate winter hardiness.

Grain quality was studied during the breeding process; however, in terms of a number of technological characteristics, the variety may be inferior to later breeding developments from the same institute. The variety is used in the food industry, as well as a parental form in cross-breeding programs to create new lines.
