The variety has been known since ancient times and is classified as 'March' or spring wheat. Due to its short development cycle, it was traditionally sown in spring in regions where weather conditions did not allow for the autumn sowing of winter crops.

The plant possesses high adaptability to Mediterranean soils, resistance to drought and hot conditions, as well as the ability to develop under salt stress conditions. It belongs to ancient landraces, which accounts for genetic variability within the population.

The grain has a dark color and contains approximately 11–13% protein. The flour is distinguished by a low gluten index, a grayish tint, and pronounced aromatic properties resembling notes of coffee and hazelnut. The product is traditionally used for the production of whole-grain bread and pasta.
