The variety is of ancient origin and was identified as a separate type with black awns in the 1930s. The plant is characterized by a short growth cycle of about 90 days, which allows for sowing in March in hilly areas. The crop has high adaptability to hot and dry climatic conditions and is suitable for organic farming.

Flour from this variety has a grayish tint, a low gluten index, and high protein and fiber content. It is used for the production of bakery products, pasta, pizza, and sweets. Scientific studies note good germination rates and root system development of the variety under soil salinity conditions.
