The Varano variety was bred in Italy as a result of crossing Capeiti 8, Creso, Valforte, and Trinakria. The plant is of the semi-dwarf type and is intended for cultivation in temperate and arid climates.

The variety possesses high stress tolerance and is capable of maintaining stable yields even under nitrogen deficiency, while demonstrating good responsiveness to nitrogen fertilizer application, which allows for its use in organic farming.

The grain of the variety is characterized by high technological indicators, including increased protein content and gluten quality, which makes it sought after in the production of pasta.
